Music Time – Songs with Intros

I’ve been wanting to create a playlist of songs with intros.  So I need to enlist your help.

Here’s what I have so far:

I’m sure a lot of you remember this one from “socials”:

The Chicago Bulls used this intro – but did you know it was tied to a popular song?

Here’s one from the 80’s:

This one from the late 70’s (I used to air-guitar to this number):

Off the Big Bam Boom album:

This one sounds like an old familiar hit, but it’s just an intro:

This one is cute – the intro, that is:

* Did you catch the swear word in the song?

Sometimes the “intro” isn’t a different song, it’s just a part of the song that sounds different than the tune itself.

Like this one for example:

And this one:

And this one:

Or sometimes, the intro can be just sound effects:

Now for this one, you have to skip to the 4:15 mark to hear the intro song.
Or you can just listen to the whole thing.  The first song is pretty cool:

And finally, I have a funny story that goes with this one.  The intro is more like an extended version of the song.  When I first got the tape, my friend asked to borrow it.  After he put it in his in-dash cassette player and thought it was malfunctioning because he didn’t know about the intro.  Had him worrying little bit:

Okay, so lay it on me.  What songs do you know that have an “intro” tied to it.  I want to extend my playlist.  On Thursday, we’ll take a look a songs that have a “ending” to them – so put your thinking caps on and hunt You Tube (but save the “ending” ones for Thursday).

  4. hemajang says:

The latest HISessions features Aldrine Guerrero on uke. I especially like his version of John Lennon’s Imagine.

  5. hemajang says:

@KAN, James Hill and cello player wife were here recently and did a video for Jon Yamasato’s HiSessions. My son-in-law does the audio for them. They did 3 songs, check it out.

  6. LINDA KATO says:

    Have a great day ❗ 😀

  10. ankleBYTERS says:

    For you smooth jazz fans…

Candy Dulfer – Don’t Go Love her sax playing but the best part of this video, beginning at 02:33 and for 4 solid minutes, is Ulco Bed’s solo guitar riff…reminds me of something that Tangerine Dream would do..if you can, watch it at 720p full screen….

  11. ankleBYTERS says:

Chris Rea – The Road To H*ll One of my all time favorite road trip song….cool intro…song starts at 03:08..

  12. ankleBYTERS says:

Rod: Music posts are the BEST!

Chris Isaak ( or HIM or Heather Nova) … Wicked Game

Dedicate this song to Rod (ankles too!)

  16. ankleBYTERS says:

Love the way the drums slowly moves from the left to right channel. A lot of the records back then would have an instrument on one channel or the other. I’m looking into picking up a turntable to play a bunch of vinyl albums/45s from the 70s-80s that I recently found.

You could buy the mono or the stereo version of album back then…I think stereo was like $1+ more.

  17. KAN says:

Hey, Sweetie, get your own log in! 😉

Ankles – I don’t know if it’s a good thing that I made you think of a song from Kill Bill!

tankobu – I’ve heard “House of the Rising Sun” is either about a prison or a brothel.

hema – James Hill is AMAZING. And he’s as nice as he is talented.

I gotta wait to get home to watch all the vids – I’m not supposed to be on youtube for long at work. ( :- )

  18. ankleBYTERS says:

“House of the Rising Sun” has its roots going all the way back to 16th century. The Animals version is about a man’s life as a drunkard and a gambler in New Orleans.

Whenever I hear the Animals version I think of the movie Casino, where Joe Pesci and his brother were beaten and buried alive in a cornfield.

  19. M says:

    Guud Morning MLCers!
    Hump day!

  20. KAN says:

Sweetie jumping in here with one I thought of after heading to bed last night – Shawn Phillips with the theme to the awful 1973 musical version of “Lost Horizon” – songs by Burt Bacaharach & Hal David couldn’t save this wretched film starring many non-singers (Peter Finch, Olivia Hussey, Sally Kellerman among ’em). But Phillips is an amazing singer, and I love this movie BECAUSE it’s so bad.

P.S.) I used this song as an audition piece for a show in high school. I didn’t get in.

  21. hemajang says:

For the ukulele players: James Hill – Billie Jean

  22. LINDA KATO says:

  196. KAN says:

Sweetie (who apparently still doesn’t want to post on his own) sez:

“While You See a Chance, Take It,” Steve Winwood

Apparently, this intro exists b/c when the song was first recorded, the original beginning was erased.

  197. LINDA KATO says:

Thanks for all the songs everyone ❗ 😀

Isn’t it fun when Rod has a music blog ❓ ❗ Love it ❗ 😀
